Favorite Discoveries of 2019: Panettone

How have I lived this long without discovering Panettone? This Italian sweet bread is typically served to celebrate the Christmas and New Year holidays. And for some terrible reason, I only just discovered it.

We were leaving Eataly after lunch and happened upon someone offering samples, and we fell in love. So far, our favorite panettone is the orange cream and chocolate chip one. None of the flavors are too overpowering and the bread is soft and delicious. I so wish that this was around throughout the year. In fact, we are such fans that Andy may learn to make it for us at home.

If you are intrigued, but don’t want to make your own, head over to Eataly, Trader Joe’s or any Italian market, and you should be in luck until right after the new year. I also hear that it makes for a terrific French Toast.

You won’t regret the detour.
